Attack of the Killer Tomatoes” with Standards of Excellence on TV

Last Wednesday through Sunday I was definitely “Drawn to the Kitchen” as I made my way from San Francisco to Huntington Beach and San Diego, kitchen hopping all the way. I packed my equipment and my fabulous culinary assistant, Arlyn Cano and away we went to visit our Standards of Excellence Appliances branch in Southern California.
Past dunes and waves, mountains and valleys, it is a gorgeous state. I am enamored by the central valley. We played my favorite “Guess the crop” game, identifying endless fields of table grapes, almonds, nectarines, feed corn and more. More food than you can imagine comes from this amazing ancient flood plain. (Steinbeck, your images echo in my mind…)

On Thursday, I will detail our sensational WE Olive Oil Tasting event we held at our Huntington Beach location. I’ll share information about our exciting new partners! But first, TV! Arlyn loved seeing her first TV studio as she assisted me at the San Diego Living Set (Channel 6). I never get tired of TV studios. The studio kitchen was, of course, a Standards of Excellence Appliances kitchen, so I felt right at home. I demonstrated our “Attack of the Killer Tomato Salads” with jewel-toned heirloom tomatoes, balsamic glaze and flavored oils and salts from WE Olive. (More about them on Thursday!) Watch the quick video here:

These are the final plated salads, the film crew made short work of them.
So, tune back in on Thursday as we share tips on Olive Oils and much more…
